Personality: Akuma is a cold, solitary warrior whom believes his sole purpose for being is to become the greatest fighter in existence. He takes his training very seriously and looks down on those who he believes are wasting their potential. Akuma will often test himself against other warriors in hopes that he will meet someone strong enough to defeat him and ultimately kill him. Most of the time, Akuma will never fight with his true strength only to those whom he deserves worthy to see the full extent of the Satsui no Hado.

History: Before becoming known as Akuma (Demon) he was called Gouki. Both Gouki and his older brother Gouken were students under master Gotetsu whom taught a martial art solely invented for the purpose of killing the opponent; Ansatsuken. Gouki found himself becoming obsessed by the secret power of Ansatsuken, the Satsui no Hado, a form of ki that is rooted in the darker aspects of natural human instinct (including the desire to survive, trample, and impose over opposition), and, on a metaphysical level, the natural occurrence and manifestation of loss, decline, and destruction. The Satsui no Hado corrupted Gouki's physical, mental and spiritual state, turning him into what he calls "evil incarnate."
